The inaugural flight took off from Cairo’s International Airport last Friday and headed towards Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport in the city of Hangzhou located in eastern China. The flight, operated by Egyptair, was announced in October with a 50 percent discount offered for travelers who bought their tickets within specified dates.
MS953 is only a step in Egypt’s new routes plan to expand in the Asian market at competitive prices. Besides daily flights to Guangzhou, two flights a week to Chengdu, and three flights a week to Beijing, this expansion to China will further encourage the movement of tourism from the Far Eastern cities in China to Egypt. Half a million Chinese tourists have visited Egypt in 2018, compared to only 300,000 in the previous year, and with EgyptAir’s new lines and competitive prices, there's only more to come.
